Thank you for visiting the Town of Black Mountain online. The purpose of this site is to keep the citizens, businesses and visitors of Black Mountain informed with a wide variety of information. Black Mountain is rich in culture and history and we are delighted to have you visit us and hope you enjoy seeing what makes our town such a special place to live, work and play.

These are exciting and challenging times for Black Mountain. We have scenic parks and recreation areas and exceptional city services and public safety. We are equally proud of the small businesses that are vital to the economic health of Black Mountain, including the outstanding restaurants and unique small businesses that you will find in our historic downtown.

In addition to financial responsibility, the Town Board is focusing on updating the comprehensive plan which was adopted by the Town of Black Mountain in 2014. This plan serves as our guiding document for smart growth. We intend to use the principles outlined in the plan — small town quality of life, safe environment, excellent recreational opportunities, sustainable growth and citizen involvement — to guide the Town of Black Mountain into a leading position among communities in the WNC region.

Sewer Rehabilitation work to begin on Midland Avenue

MSD plans to begin work on or near next Monday, August 13th  to rehabilitate sewer on Midland Ave. The start date may vary slightly due to weather conditions, but can commence during the early part of next week. State of Emergency LIFTED

Thursday, May 31, 2018

 UPDATE: Town of Black Mountain has officially lifted the state of emergency.  The town received a press release (click here)regarding assistance to private business owners. North Carolina Emergency Management and FEMA Teams have completed preliminary damage assessments in the Town over the past few weeks. We continue waiting on any additional notifications regarding assistance from the State and Federal government and will notify the public with any updates as soon as we are able to.  We appreciate your patience.

Board of Aldermen Special Call Meeting- CLOSED SESSION

The Black Mountain Board of Aldermen will hold SPECIAL CALL MEETINGS on Thursday August 23, Friday August 24, and Thursday August 30, 2018 in the Board Room in the Town Hall Building, 160 Midland Avenue, Black Mountain, NC.  The purpose of the meetings is for the Board of Aldermen to enter into CLOSED SESSION to discuss personnel matters, as permitted in NC GS 143.318.11(a)(6) and to discuss updates with the Interim Town Manager. Click here to view the notices.   The August 16th meeting will also have an open session to discuss election services with Buncombe County Board of Elections at 9:00 a.m. 

The meeting is open to the public.

The Board of Aldermen will hold a their Regular Session Meeting on Monday September 10, 2018 at 6:00 p.m at Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public. Planning Board Monthly Meeting

The Black Mountain Planning Board will meet for their monthly meeting on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall, 160 Midland Avenue, Black Mountain, N.C. The purpose of this meeting is to continue the request for the right-of-way closure for First Street (off of Blue Ridge Assembly Drive) and to consider a right-of-way closure request for Wolf Creek Drive.
