Thank you for visiting the Town of Black Mountain online. The purpose of this site is to keep the citizens, businesses and visitors of Black Mountain informed with a wide variety of information. Black Mountain is rich in culture and history and we are delighted to have you visit us and hope you enjoy seeing what makes our town such a special place to live, work and play.

These are exciting and challenging times for Black Mountain. We have scenic parks and recreation areas and exceptional city services and public safety. We are equally proud of the small businesses that are vital to the economic health of Black Mountain, including the outstanding restaurants and unique small businesses that you will find in our historic downtown.

In addition to financial responsibility, the Town Board is focusing on updating the comprehensive plan which was adopted by the Town of Black Mountain in 2014. This plan serves as our guiding document for smart growth. We intend to use the principles outlined in the plan — small town quality of life, safe environment, excellent recreational opportunities, sustainable growth and citizen involvement — to guide the Town of Black Mountain into a leading position among communities in the WNC region.

Town Offices CLOSED

Thursday, November 15, 2018

Town Offices will be CLOSED on Thursday and Friday November 22nd & 23rd 2018 to observe Thanksgiving. Trash and Recycling schedules will be moved forward by one day over the holiday so if your pick up day was Thursday it will be Friday. Friday pickups move to Saturday. Brush and White Goods will be Saturday.

If you need to report a water break or other town utility emergency after hours or on the weekend please contact 828-419-9350 to report. 

If you need to report a sewer related problem please contact MSD at 828-255-0061 (24 hour line) to report. 

If you have a police or fire or medical emergency please dial 911. 

 

 

  Meeting Notices

NCDOT Public Input Meeting Blue Ridge Road Interchange
The NCDOT will be hosting a public meeting to present the alternatives for the Blue Ridge Road Interchange project on Thursday December 13, 2018. The meeting will be held at the Lakeview Clubhouse at Lake Tomahawk.  The public meeting portion runs from 4:00-7:00 PM. 

The Board of Aldermen and Black Mountain Boards/Commission members have been invited to give public input. There will be a potential quorum present at this meeting but no action is anticipated. 

 

Board of Aldermen Agenda Workshop Meeting

The Board of Aldermen will hold their Agenda Workshop Meeting on Monday November 19, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at Town Hall. Board of Aldermen Regular Session Meeting

The Board of Aldermen will hold a their Regular Session Meeting on Monday November 19, 2018 at 6:00 p.m at Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public. Zoning Board of Adjustment Special Call Meeting

The Black Mountain Zoning Board of Adjustment will hold a special call meeting on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall, 160 Midland Avenue, Black Mountain, N.C. The purpose of this meeting is to consider a variance request for 316 Allen Mountain Drive, further identified as PIN #0609-78-8234.

The meeting is open to the public.

Planning Board Monthly Meeting

The Black Mountain Planning Board will meet for their monthly meeting on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall, 160 Midland Avenue, Black Mountain, N.C. The purpose of this meeting is to consider text amendments to right-of-way closing procedures and consider text amendments to various sections for noticing requirements.

 The meeting is open to the public.
