The CodeRED system provides Town officials the ability to quickly deliver messages to targeted geographic areas or to the entire Town at once.  The City of Asheville and some other NC municipalities already use this technology for enhanced public communications.  The system will be used to relay information about emergency conditions, road detours, water line breaks, proposed zoning changes, weather-related directives, closures, or other service-related information.

If a resident’s phone number or email is not registered in the database, you will not be contacted.  Citizens are not limited to a single contact number, but may choose to register home, work, or mobile telephone numbers and email addresses for multiple individuals living in the same household.  While a limited number of land-based phone numbers has been pre-entered into the CodeRED system, citizens should not assume their contact information has been automatically included, and all Black Mountain residents and businesses are encouraged to simply click on the CodeRED logo above or below this text.

The data collected will only be used for Town-related notification purposes. It is kept confidential and appropriate steps will be taken to protect the information from unauthorized access or disclosure.
