The Planning Board was established to advise the Board of Aldermen on maters related to land use and community development and consists of seven (7) members each serving a 3 year term.  Members review and improve land use related ordinances, provide recommendations to the Board of Aldermen and the Zoning Board of Adjustment as appropriate, and pursue other studies or planning initiatives as directed by the Board of Aldermen.  The Planning Board shall be governed by the terms of NC GS 160A-360 through 160A-387 and by the terms of the Town Zoning Ordinance enacted December 1982 and Subdivision Regulations enacted September 1985, and any subsequent amendments thereto. All Planning Board members shall thoroughly familiarize themselves with the provisions of these statutes and ordinances. Members must reside within the corporate limits of the Town of Black Mountain. The Board of Aldermen appoint membership. 

Meetings
The Planning Board meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in Town Hall, 160 Midland Avenue. Public participation and comment is welcomed and encouraged.
