The Black Mountain Recreation Commission

is an advisory commission appointed by the Black Mountain Board of Aldermen and consists of 5 members who serve 3 year, staggered terms.  Commissioners are intended to act as the recreation liaison between the citizens of the Town, the Board of Aldermen, and the staff of the Recreation and Parks Department. The Recreation Commission's primary function is to recommend policies and programs to the Recreation Director and Board of Aldermen within the scope of responsibilities as outlined in town ordinances. Recreation Commission members also provide input and guidance on the development of long range plans for the Recreation Department including direction on program offerings and the development of recreational facilities. A minimum of two-thirds of the membership shall be made up of full-time residents within the corporate limits of Black Mountain. The remaining one-third of the membership may be made up of residents who reside in the East Buncombe Fire District but not within the corporate limits of any incorporated municipality. The Board of Aldermen appoint membership.
