Below is a list of trails and greenway sections that are in place and
ready to use! Please call 419-9300 if you need help locating any of
these trails.
Flat
Creek Trail - The Flat Creek
trail is a .5 mile section that runs from Cotton Avenue south to
Charlotte Street behind the Black Mountain Primary School.

I-40 Pedestrian Underpass


This walkway allows pedestrian and
bike access from
Recreation Park on the north side of I-40 to the 9 disc golf holes,
community garden, trails and indoor soccer arena on the south side I-40.

Garden Trail

The Garden Trail makes a large
loop around the
disc golf course and a smaller loop around the Community Garden.

Plots in the garden are privately rented on a seasonal basis through
Black Mountain Recreation and Parks.

Lake Tomahawk
Trail – (0.55 miles) This
trail, which loops around Lake Tomahawk, is the oldest and most popular
trail in Black Mountain. It will connect into the Greenway System via
the Lake Tomahawk Spur. The walkway surface is crushed stone.

Riverwalk Park Trail - This
segment of greenway runs along the Swannanoa River behind Bi-Lo. It
currently connects to the Dog Park. In the future it will connect to the
Grey Eagle Trail to the west and to the Primary School Trail to the
north. This is a paved multi-use trail.

Oaks Trail
– (0.51 miles) This segment of greenway was constructed in the 1990’s.
It connects Recreation Park with Vance Avenue. This segment will connect
to the Grey Eagle Trail to the east and the Swannanoa Connector to the
west.

Village Way
- This segment of greenway connects
Black Mountain Primary and Black Mountain Elementary Schools. It was
funded through a grant from the Lipscomb Family Fund and through Town
funds. It will connect to the Primary School Trail to provide pedestrian
access to the schools for Black Mountain residents.
