Current Projects

Below is a list of projects that the Greenways Commission is currently working on. Check back soon for updates and more news!

Looking north onto the future Primary School Trail

Primary School Trail - This trail will connect to the Village Greenway and run north along Flat Creek to Cotton Avenue. Preliminary design work and easement acquisition for this trail are complete. Funding for construction has been requested from DOT. 
 

The Community Garden Trail will connect to Recreation Park through the westernmost culvert

Community Gardens Trail - This trail will connect the ‘In the Oaks’ Trail at Recreation Park to the Community Gardens on White Pine Drive. It will pass through a tunnel under I-40 and follow the Swannanoa River to the Garden. Easements for this section are in place and design work is in process.  

One possible route for the Grey Eagle Trail is along Vance Ave.

Grey Eagle Trail - This trail will connect the ‘In the Oaks’ Trail to the Riverwalk Park Trail. This trail is in the design phase. Final alignment has yet to be determined.
