(828) 253-3929 The Town of Black Mountain provides sanitation and recycling services through a contract with GDS. Household garbage is collected once a week from curbside, except for disruptions caused by inclement weather, legal holidays, or unavoidable circumstances. Refer to the Black Mountain News or the Town’s website for holiday sanitation service schedule changes. Commercial refuse collection (for establishments using hand receptacles only) are also served on a once a week basis. The Town does not provide services for industrial or manufacturing operations. Your refuse and recycling collection day is determined by the street you live on. Refer to the refuse and recycling calendar to determine your pickup day.

Place garbage and recyclables at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the day of pick-up. To prevent unsightly litter, do not place garbage at curbside prior to 5:00 p.m. on the day before the scheduled pick-up.
Be sure that receptacles for garbage are made of metal
or plastic, water tight with tight-fitting lids, and
have handles. Receptacles should be kept in serviceable
condition with lids in place. Receptacles and bags must
have a capacity of not more than 30 gallons and shall
not exceed 50 pounds in weight when filled. Place raw garbage in plastic bags and dispose of by placing it in a garbage receptacle. Up to six receptacles per residence and eight receptacles for commercial establishments will be picked up (excluding special items). The Town does not provide dumpster service.

Brush cannot exceed 6 feet long by 3 inches in diameter and cannot exceed eight cubic yards in quantity.
White Goods/Appliances—
White Goods will be picked up on Wednesdays. In
Bulky Items/Misc. Junk—Miscellaneous
junk and bulky items (furniture, etc.) will be
picked up on the same day as the regular trash pickup. (You
do not
need to call Town Hall for this service.),
Leaf Collection Bagged leaves will be collected at curbside throughout the year. From February 1st through September 30th bagged leaves will be picked up on Fridays. In order to arrange for bagged leaves to be picked up call 419-9300 Monday thru Friday before 4:00 p.m. Calls received after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday will be picked up the following week. Fall Leaf Collection Each year between October 1st and January 31st, residents DO NOT need to call Town Hall for leaf-pickup. Residents need to bag their leaves and place them at the curb for collection. The Town’s contractor will cycle through the Town on a regular basis from October through January to collect bagged leaves that are placed curbside. All bagged leaves must be free of sticks and other debris. Bags cannot be larger than 40 gallons in size and cannot be more than 50 pounds in weight.. Bagged Leaf Assistance Residents may qualify for assistance from the Town in having their leaves bagged for collection between October 1st and January 31st. Residents who are age 70 or older (or residents with a disability) AND whose home has a tax value of less than $200,000 qualify for assistance. Call 419-9300 for more information. PLEASE REMEMBER: Leaves cannot be raked into streets or ditches! This can cause traffic hazards and flooding during heavy rains. NON-ACCEPTABLE REFUSE The Town does not accept the following:
Please note: Building materials and wastes from lot clearing, landscaping and remodeling must be collected, removed and disposed of by the property owner or private contractor or builder.
