For any severe winter
weather event, the Town of Black Mountain will provide limited
pre-treatment in high elevation areas and will begin snow removal
efforts on all town streets after the first accumulation, continuing
until road conditions remain passable. Town
crews will work 24 hours a day on alternating 8-12 hour shifts, as
conditions warrant, within five geographic Zones (1-5). One
plow is assigned to each zone. In addition, the town has two large
sanders and one motor grader to deploy throughout the jurisdiction
as necessary.
You can help us help you by moving parked vehicles from town
streets prior to snow accumulation.
If you are unable to park in your own driveway, garage or common
parking area, we suggest neighbors park on one side of the street
only to allow enough room for snow moving equipment to pass through
without risking damage to private property and vehicles. For
a map of free public parking areas, click on the link below.
Please note that the Town is not responsible for snow removal from
private property, private roads, state-maintained roads, or
sidewalks adjacent to private property or businesses. If you would
like to know whether the road you live on is maintained by the town,
by the state, or is considered privately maintained, please click on
the link below for an alphabetical street listing.
