The Town of Black Mountain Mission Statement:

The Town of Black Mountain provides a full array of municipal services. One of our goals is to provide quality services that protect the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens while preserving a high quality of life. In an effort to achieve these goals, we provide the following municipal services.

Animal Control
Animal Control services are provided by the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office. You may contact the Animal Services Division at 828-250-6670.

Building Inspections
If you want to build, remodel or repair structures in Black Mountain, please contact our Building Inspector, and fill out a building permit application.

Call 811 Before You Dig
Call 811 at least a few days before you start any digging project. Whether you are planning to do it yourself or hire a professional, smart digging means calling 811 before each job.

Lakeview Center for Active Aging
Participate in active aging classes, workshops, lunches, and fellowship with local seniors.

Pay Water Bill
Make a water bill payment.

Police Protection
Police Protection is provided by the Black Mountain Police Department. Contact the Police for regular business (non-emergency) at 828-419-9350. For an emergency, call 911.

Public Transportation
Public Transportation via bus is provided by the Town to and from Asheville and within the Black Mountain area

Report a Pothole or Other Problem
Street Maintenance/Construction is provided by our Public Works Department. Report a problem with them.

Sanitation / Recycling
Sanitation services are administered through the Black Mountain Public Works Department.

Vacation House Check
House checks are a service the Police Department offers for citizens who are leaving on vacation, or will be away from their property over an extended period of time.

Water Service
The Public Works Department manages the production and distribution of potable water and produces 187 million gallons of water annually from 12 wells which are then distributed through approximately 3,400 taps along 62 miles of water lines.
