Cragmont Park

Beginning in February of 2022 Cragmont Park will be undergoing renovations as part of the Greenways Master Plan. These renovations will take place in phases and will include the following:

  • Removal of existing chain link fence and backstop around the practice field. 
  • Installation of a walking path around Cragmont Park that is +/- 0.25 of a mile long.
  • Installation of a second walking path on the lower portion of the property connecting to the upper portion and a footbridge over the Tomahawk branch for connection to the sidewalk along highway 70.

Future amenities that may be included:

  • Outdoor fitness equipment.
  • Picnic shelter.
  • Restrooms
Cragmont Park, previously known as Youth Center Park, was acquired by the Town of Black Mountain in 1933 and redeveloped in 1978. In 1979 the Town received a Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant to develop the property for recreation purposes. The grant funds were used to create the park you enjoy today which features tennis courts, basketball courts, pickle ball court, and a small ball field.
