Residential Rain Garden Workshop a Success!

The residential rain garden workshop was held on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Carver Community Center. Twenty-five participants took part in the workshop which featured information on stormwater and how to construct a rain garden. The participants then helped install a rain garden at the Carver Community Center. Many thanks to RiverLink and the NC Cooperative Extension for their help in coordinating and teaching the workshop, to Montessori School for use of their classroom and tables and to Public Works for doing the hard work of digging the hole for the rain garden.

Living on the Water's Edge Workshop a Success!

The Living on the Water's Edge workshop, held at Lakeview Clubhouse on October 10, 2019, had a good turnout with eighteen town residents, many of whom live on a stream bank or riverbank. Residents learned about riparian buffers, how to restore and maintain their banks, permits required and other useful information. Many thanks to the RiverLink, the Army Corps of Engineers and the Division of Environmental Quality.
